CSD’s 30th anniversary gala concert

We are immensely excited to announce our forthcoming concert, on 20th November, to mark the 30th anniversary of the band.

Our varied programme will pay tribute to several former conductors of the band, including Philip Mead and Howard Burrell as well as our president, Rodney Newton. We will also honour the great British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, whose sesquicentennial year this is.

We are particularly delighted to be sharing this concert with highly regarded local brass ensemble Prime Brass, whose line-up includes our former conductor Paul Garner.

Join us in St Luke’s Church, Victoria Road, Cambridge, 3pm, Sunday 20th November.

A CSD Christmas!

Fresh from our exhilarating performance at Arbury’s Church of the Good Shepherd, we are enjoying preparations for Christmas. You can hear us carolling merrily away at:

  • Milton Road Primary School PTA Christmas Fair, 6th December;
  • Scotsdales Great Shelford 12pm-2pm Sunday 8th December;
  • St Andrew’s Church Chesterton Carol Service, Thursday 19th December;
  • Bourn Village carol event, Saturday 21st December;

As Cambridge’s only non-contesting community brass band, we immensely value the honorary president of the band, distinguished composer and musician Rodney Newton. We are looking forward to premiering his Cambridge Variations, a new piece commissioned by the band. Watch this space for opportunities to hear us play it next year!
